This series is Britto's most extensive exploration of a single subject to date and renders each breed in the artist's unmistakable visual language: bold black contours, and the playful geometric fragmentation that has defined his work for four decades. Every canvas conceals a single small heart, Britto's recurring symbol of love, placed in the collar of each dog. "Every dog is someone's best friend," Britto said. "A dog does not care what you achieve or what you own. A dog loves you completely and without conditions. I wanted to paint that feeling all of it twenty-seven times."
